Just bought another this year since I acquired another cat. My outdoor cats love it, it keeps me from worrying about them getting too cold at night, and it's maintenance free-- just plug it in and leave it. Highly recommended.

I do not know if it is the product or my cat but he would have nothing to do with this bed. I would have returned the bed except for the reduction in the purchase price plus a 15% restocking fee plus the return shipping charge so I guess it will just go in the closet.

Just received my cat's KH-1070 Lectro Soft Outdoor Bed-Small from Amazon. Amazon's listed spects says it (Approximately 40 Watts). The box I received says it only 20 Watts. HELLO>>> This is (HALF) the rated product that I payed for. I feel I've been cheated and miss lead from Amazon's sight. Don Barbee

Well, I had reservations but I went ahead and pushed the "buy" button against my better judgment and it turns out I was right. It's not all that and a bag of chips! First, it's not very warm. My wonderful older cat who is arthritic and always cold, thinks this pet bed a joke and looks at me like I am crazy when I put her on this thing. She's right, I must have been crazy to buy something like this. It's lukewarm at best. And cats are finicky anyway and very suspicious of things so, she is not buying this thing even though her wary owner bought it. Lesson learned here, if you doubt it--don't buy it. It was an expensive mistake.

She absolutely loves my old heating pad (for humans) because its warm. I have never used it for her specifically--but in using it for myself, she will lean against it (and me) and she is oh so happy. I read the warnings that say cats are not suppose to lay on heating pads (for humans) because they are too hot but then why has she been able to tolerate my heating pad especially, since she is choosing to lay next to it on her own?

My advice is, if you have a very independently minded-finicky cat--don't buy this item. Even if they may get some benefit out of it, it's not warm enough to attract them to it--like a sun spot does. K&H should have created this with a higher warm-up mode to attract the cat and once they are attracted to the warmth, then the temp either goes lower or can be turned down to a lower setting for sleeping.

If you touch your cat while they are sleeping in a sun spot, their fur is very, very warm not lukewarm. Obviously, they can take more heat than this heated mat offers. My cats move in and out of sun spots during the day in the winter from passive solar through a big glass window with southern exposure. So, they are regulating their own warmth and know when to move when it gets too warm for them. Cats know authentic warmth and you cannot keep them from it if they discover a warm spot so, this mat is not warm enough to attract them. Maybe it will work better for outdoor cats but for indoor cats, I am doubtful. A fleece blanket is just about as warm as this thing and more comfortable as well.

i bought this for a cat that spent some time on our porch in the michigan winter. it did warm up, not too hot though. she seemed to like it. very nice, but i'd much prefer any animal that had to use this is brought indoors. if it's cold enough to warrant a heater, then bring your pet indoors, you idiot!
